Uncle Sam Collectible

I just finished
this guy recently. He is a special order Uncle Sam.
Uncle Sam 2012 005

Uncle Sam is high up there on the Folk Art collectors list!

Uncle Sam 2012 001

I had fun making him. He is very similar to a piece I did in 2011. Round body, long stick like legs.

Uncle Sam 2012 002

His hat is made from paper. I painted the wide blue stripe and red stripes onto the hat.

Uncle Sam 2012 003

He proudly carries his grand ole flag!

Uncle Sam 2012 006

Just wanted to share him with you. I feel like I’ve been bit by the Creativity Bug and I have LOTS of ideas brewing for new pieces to come.
I am working on some more mermaids, hope to have them finished soon.
I am also working on a special order for my friend Ruby Jean. She’s been a bit MIA lately, but will be posting on Monday to explain where she’s been. Can’t wait for that:)

Thank you so much for stopping by, see you soon!

Summer Mermaid Art

I didn’t mean to take sooooooooooooooo long in between posts. Here in Washington the kids didn’t get out of school until June 27th due to some snow days they had to make up. Then we took a little vacation the second week of July. The kids have had basketball tournaments on the weekends and just recently we had to shop for a new car. My husband and kids were rear ended bad enough to deem the car totaled. All I care is that they are ok and no one was hurt.
I’ve been working on quite a few projects and I wanted to share these little ones with you. Some Mermaids for summer.

The first one has a heart suspended above her using wire.

A little starfish bow in her PINK hair.

I love how her little “scales” turned out using mica glitter.

009

008

She has a cute little friend.

005

She holds the moon from a wire.

She also had glittery “scales” using mica glitter.

Lilac Love

I have to share these lilacs with you. To me they are absolutely exquisite. My parents have about 5 or 6 beautiful mature lilac bushes on their property. Ranging from the lightest lavender to yummy dark purple.
So I helped myself to some of the prettiest I could find. Of course some of the biggest and best were way up high. You could let your mother climb on top of your car to reach them or play it safe and stick to what you can get on ground:) I chose the former.  Thanks Mom!!
Look at these beauties.
052

I knew I should have taken pictures the very first day because a lot of the lighter ones started wilting pretty fast.
These however are the prettiest of the pretty.
061

I had them in a big bucket in the garage and the smell was AMAZING!
053

I still can’t get over how absolutely beautiful this double blossom lilac is. The colors are simply perfect.
057

Sigh……….
058

I found this cute willow vase at TJ Maxx for $6.99. Such a good deal.

055

Fresh flowers in the entryway is one of my favorite things. I love the look of the rustic willow vase and fresh garden flowers.

066

067

I was also able to rescue some more vintage bottles from my parents property. Now how pretty does this look in a vintage jar?

064

I will be showing some more vintage bottles in an upcoming post.

065

I hope you enjoyed these beautiful lilacs. I’ve seen so many gorgeous posts on lilacs in blogland, I just had to include these.
Take care all!

Uncle Sam and 4th of July

Is it too early to start making 4th of July and Uncle Sam dolls? If there’s anything that I’ve learned in the art business, it’s that: NO! it’s never too early to start making pieces for a holiday that is still a few months away.
I had a request some time ago to make an Uncle Sam doll and here he is.

I had a lot of fun making this guy, so I decided to make a little 4th of July girl too.
For the longest time I’ve wanted to make a girl with a paper hat and pinwheel, so here she is.
